「グローバル実践科目Ⅱ」（新渡戸カレッジ 大学院カリキュラムのプレプログラム科目の一つ）の最終発表会にご参加ください。本イベントは、北海道大学創基150周年記念事業との連携のもと開催されます。

増毛町は、日本海に面した人口約3,400人の小さな港町です。かつてニシン漁で栄え、豊かな歴史と食文化、そして今なお良好に保存された明治・大正・昭和期の町並みを有しています。その一方で、急速な人口減少と高齢化という課題に直面しています。大学院生たちは、この増毛町から提示された課題である「人口減少が進む小さな地域社会をいかに活性化するか」に取り組みました。

学生たちは地域づくり会社の起業家という想定で、増毛町をより魅力的で活気ある町にするためのビジネスやプロジェクトを構想しました。提案は七つの分野にわたります。観光、食と特産品、交通と移動、教育、医療と福祉、テクノロジー、そして国際交流と多文化共生です。いずれの提案も、持続可能で収益を生むビジネスモデルに基づいています。

2026年6月29日には、学生が増毛町で現地調査（フィールドワーク）を行いました。町の各所を訪ね、地元の事業者と対話することで、提案を町の実情に根ざしたものにしています。

この参加型の英語セッションでは、各チームが調査結果と提案を発表します。

Join us for the final presentations of Global Practical Course II, one of Nitobe College’s Pre-program courses, presented in collaboration with Hokkaido University’s 150th Anniversary Project.

Mashike is a small port town of around 3,400 people on the Sea of Japan coast. Once a prosperous herring fishery, it holds a rich history, a distinctive local cuisine, and a remarkably well-preserved townscape from the Meiji, Taishō, and Shōwa periods. It now faces steep population decline and an ageing society. Students have worked on a challenge set by the town itself: how to revitalise a small northern community.

Imagining themselves as founders of a community development company, teams designed business ideas and initiatives to make Mashike more vibrant and attractive. Their proposals span seven areas: tourism; food and local products; transport and mobility; education; healthcare and welfare; technology; and international exchange and multicultural inclusion. Each proposal rests on a sustainable, revenue-generating business model.

On June 29, 2026, students carried out fieldwork in Mashike, visiting sites across the town and speaking with local businesses to ground their proposals in its reality.
