Guidelines for Application

Foundation Program

AY 2021

Eligibility

Students who are enrolled in Hokkaido University’s master’s or professional degree programs.

Enrollment

[Spring Enrollment]  Approximately 60 students
[Fall Enrollment]  Approximately 60 students

Application Period

[Spring Enrollment] Wednesday, March 24, 2021 to Friday, April 9, 2021, at 5 p.m.
[Fall Enrollment] Wednesday, September 15, 2021 to Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at 5 p.m.

Requirements for Application

  1. Statement of Purpose
    Describe the reasons in relation to: (1) your intellectual interests; (2) knowledge and skills that you aspire to attain or develop at the program; and (3) your future vision (400 words or less).
  2. TOEIC-IP TEST
    [Spring Enrollment] Saturday, April 17, 2021, 9:30-12:40
    [Fall Enrollment] Saturday, October 16, 2021, 9:30-12:40

*Alternative to taking the TOEIC-IP TEST may apply if applicants submit designated score reports. Otherwise, exemption may apply if applicants fulfill prescribed requirement.

Complete the Application Form and submit it.

Requirements for Enrollment

  1. Pass the enrollment screening after assessment of statement of purpose described in the Application Form.
  2. Take the TOEIC-IP TEST and score 700 (*equivalent to TOEFL-iBT 76, TOEFL-ITP 540, IELTS 5.0) or higher.
  3. Submit the confirmation of enrollment in Nitobe College after announcement of results.

Notification of Screening Results

[Spring Enrollment] Friday, May 6, 2021, after 5 p.m. by e-mail
[Fall Enrollment] Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at noon by e-mail

Honors Program

AY 2021

Eligibility

Students who are awarded the Certificate of Completion of Foundation Program for Graduate Students or expected to complete the program.

Enrollment

[Spring Enrollment]  Approximately 30 students
[Fall Enrollment]  Approximately 30 students

Application Period

[Spring Enrollment] Monday, March 15, 2021 to Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at 5 p.m.
[Fall Enrollment] Wednesday, September 15, 2021 to Friday, September 24, 2021, at 5 p.m.

Application Procedure

Complete the Application Form and submit it.

Requirements for Enrollment

  1. Students who are awarded the Certificate of Completion of Foundation Program for Graduate Students or expected to complete the program make an enrollment application for the Honors Program, and are granted permission of enrollment after screening; and
  2. Submission of the confirmation of enrollment in Nitobe College after announcement of results.

Screening Procedure

Successful applicants will be selected based on academic achievement of the Foundation Program for Graduate Students.

Notification of Screening Results

[Spring Enrollment] Wednesday, April 14, 2021, after 5 p.m. by e-mail
[Fall Enrollment] Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at noon by e-mail

Information Session

Information session for prospective students of the Foundation Program for Graduate Students will be held as follows to provide information including course contents and application procedures.

We look forward to the active participation of those who are interested in admission to the program.
