Graduate Education Course
Q1. Who will be the target students of Graduation Education Course of Nitobe College?
A. Students who enrolled in master’s degree program and professional-degree program of the Graduate Schools of Hokkaido University are eligible to apply.
Research students and exchange students as well as students who enrolled in doctoral degree program and in bachelor’s degree program of 6-year system are not eligible to apply for the program.
Q2. I would like to know if the program is available for students enrolled at Hakodate Campus.
A. The program is open for students who are enrolled in master’s or professional degree programs of all majors at Hokkaido University.
As for Core Courses, students of Hakodate campus can participate online.
Registration
Q1. Will credits earned at the Nitobe College be counted as the credits required for completion of my master’s program?
A. Credits of Inter-Graduate School Classes can be counted to the completion requirements of your master’s program.
Please refer to the student manual of each graduate school whether the credits for Inter-Graduate School Classes are counted as credits necessary for completion.
Q2. What level of the English proficiency is required to participate in the program?
A. Nitobe College sets the score 700 of TOEIC-IP (*equivalent to TOEFL-iBT 76, TOEFL-ITP 540, IELTS 5.0) or higher as a reference score which enables active engagement in course work in English.
Q3. I would like to know course registration procedure.
A1. As for Inter-Graduate School Classes, students shall apply for the registration by choosing the subjects that they want to register for in an application form. Admitted students must check their class registration in the notification of acceptance via email.
A2. As for Nitobe College Special Classes, students who intend to register for the classes shall submit during the prescribed period their intention of class registration to the Specially Appointed Academic Staff of Nitobe College Program for Graduate Students.
Since a Nitobe College representative (Graduate) will collectively register for the course, students shall not register for the course on their own.
Foundation Program
Q1. What are requirements to apply for the Foundation Program?
A. Students need to fill out and submit application form including statement of purpose and to take the TOEIC-IP Test.
Students shall apply for TOEIC-IP Test (online) in the application form and the test fee is covered by Nitobe College. Alternatively submission of an official score report or exemption may be available if applicants fulfill some requirements.
Q2. I must be absent from two sessions of the Foundation Program to engage in class and fieldwork at my Graduate School. Can I still participate in the program?
A. Basically, you can. In case students need to be absent or arrive late repeatedly, they are advised to consult the Nitobe College Specially Appointed Academic Staff soon after their registrations were fixed.
Q3. Which courses will be provided by Nitobe College Foundation Seminar for Graduate Students offered by Foundation Program?
A. Carrier Development Seminar (Full year course), and Entrepreneurship will be offered in AY 2023. However, it is not included in the requirements for completion of the graduate school you belong to.

Honors Program
Q1. What are requirements to apply for the Honors Program?
A. Eligible students are students who completed the Foundation Program (including who are expected to complete the program) and they need to make enrollment applications for the Honors Program.
Q2. I have an opportunity to work as internship for four months at a laboratory of university abroad. Can I still participate in the Honors Program?
A. Please consult with the Nitobe College Specially Appointed Academic Staff as soon as possible.
Q3. Which courses will be provided by Nitobe College Special Seminar for Graduate Students offered by Honors Program?
A. DEMOLA, Hult Prize Challenge, and Carrier Development Seminar (Full year course) , will be offered in AY 2023. However, they are not included in the requirements for completion of the graduate school you belong to.
